#6 - oral presentation reflection

First of all, I would like to say I'm really glad to have worked with my team mates and a pat on the back for all of us! It's overrr!!

I think that our hard work has definitely paid off! After countless rounds of practise and feedbacks from each other, we have all improved so much from our first rehearsal.

I felt much more confident presenting today as compared to the peer teaching session. Maybe this is due to the fact that I was a lot more prepared and the lessons we had beforehand definitely helped me. The feedback session after the peer teaching session has also given me valuable tips which enabled me to improve.

I felt I was more enthusiastic this time round. Benefits of sharing a personal story I believe! This is a tip I will definitely remember in times to come. I also made an effort to maintain good eye contact with the audience, brushed up my gesturing skills, introduced appropriate pauses and kept my smile. I think our team made a good decision to click the powerpoint slides for each other because then we could focus more on the audience instead of worrying whether the correct slide was on display.

On the other hand, I think I should have slowed down my speed. Because during the practise rounds, I kept exceeding 5 minutes so I naturally sped up. I should also have used more visual aids because I think that would make my presentation more memorable. Lastly, during the Q&A session, I should have maintained eye contact with the rest of the audience, instead of just focusing on the person who asked the question.

To end this post, I would like to thank the friendly faces in the audience, your smiles have definitely given me extra confidence! :)

  1. Thanks for the quick upload, Ally. You and your team put up a good 'show' this morning; I could see the amount of time put in to prepare for the presentation, and the effort definitely paid off.

I look forward to your classmates' sharing on your blog post.

  2. Hi Ally!

The presentation was awesome! There were very good cohesion and transition between team members, knowledge and content was brought forth effectively and presenters were all well prepared! I thought your speed was okay. Didn't seems too fast for me. Q&A was handled well too! But yes, I think more visual aids would do good. It will leave a more lasting memory of your presentation.

  6. Hi, the friendly face shall comment!

First of all, I think your team did a great job presenting. The flow of the presentation and coherence was good and it showed a lot of teamwork. However, we should also not let success get to our heads and always remember to continually improve ourselves and make every presentation an even better one. It is good that our tips have given you invaluable insight to help you improve!

Meanwhile yea do drink more milk in case you slip and fall and break some bones =D

  7. Hi Ally,

From your blogpost, I think that you did enjoy yourself when presenting, which is a very good start to a wonderful presentation. For the Q&A part, I feel that it will take time for us to keep eye contacts to others audiences, as I guess it is human nature for us to maintain eye contact to who we are answering to? As I also have that same problem! Maybe we can try to think of the audiences as one? Means that instead of answering to the particular audience, we should think of answering the whole crowd as one. Good luck!

Ally, I like the way you're presenting. Nice and friendly smile while presenting. Keep this up :)
Your team has done a good job! Very nice flow and felt very comfortable when listening to it..
Perhaps you can improve by making more persuasive..like selling people to take this module.. cause what I felt is that you are giving information about this module more.
Overall, it is a very good presentation..haha.. indeed after seeing you guys' presentation making our group more nervous..:p cause it's very good

  9. Hello Ally.

I feel you make a connection with the audience in your presentation, with your smile and eye contact. I think that's good. You seem comfortable speaking, and that puts the audience (or me) at ease.

I had a nice time working with you. :)
