#7 - Nostalgia

Wow. Can't believe I'm writing the last blogpost already, it seemed not so long ago when I was fretting over what to write for the first one. I believe the skills that I've taken away from this module would come back to me at one stage or another of my life.

For example, I learnt to be a better active listener when working on the proposal. I feel that all members deserve equal attention for their ideas but some might not be comfortable to share their thoughts. So, by being an active listener, it would facilitate the progress of the project because more ideas are brought up and it keeps the discussion going. When working on the oral presentation, I learnt how variations in tone, volume and gestures can bring the message across to the audience more effectively. Before attending this module, I had no idea that gestures could make such a big impact. I had zero gestures during the peer teaching session but after realizing their importance, I brushed up on that part and thought it made my presentation better! I have to say I thought the blogging assignment would be such a chore but penning down my thoughts actually gave me a channel to reflect and think critically. Plus, I really enjoyed reading everyone's posts, comments and replies. I feel that I got to know everyone just a little more with each word, each sentence and each paragraph. I've not taken a module where there is so much interaction in class and I really liked it!

I hope that we can all keep in touch and meet up for fun, joy and laughter though I think it's unlikely to happen but I'll stay positive haha! Thanks to each and every one of you for making my 8AMs. :)

  1. A little message to everyone ^^

Calvin: Hey bully #1! Glad to have taken this class with you especially since we're going into different specializations and hardly have the time to hang out anymore. I learnt a lot more about you through this module when our sharing sessions, you're a dedicated brother and son. :) Also, I think I saw more of your serious side too heh.

Catherine: Hi Cat! I'm glad you decided to take this module in the end! :) We seldom have chance to sit together in a class and share our thoughts and feelings; normally it's just listen to the lecturer and scribble fast and furious haha. So I think all the sharing brought us closer together! Looking forward to the next semester with you friend! :)

Jonathan: Hey bully #2! You were the first person I worked with for this module! Honoured? Haha! I enjoyed working with you on the peer-teaching and not bad for being the first group eh? Hehe. But you should stop ganging up with Calvin to bully me. D:< Thanks for the smiles though! :)

Julian: Hello Julian! Thanks for the jazz surprise; it was one of my favourite songs too heh. I think I've worked with you twice during activities but I think I still don't know you very well. Maybe because you're across the room, the only thing I'm sure of is you are a SNSD fan and you like Taeyeon haha.

Junwen: Hi Junwen! I didn't really have a chance to work with you but I found out that you fish, shoot and you are actually quite a talkative (and funny) person! Haha towards the end of the course, you spoke up a lot more during class and yea, I discovered your humorous side! Btw thanks A LOT for all your help!!!!

Kenneth: Hey Kenneth! I was surprised to find that you displayed a totally different side of you during the interview and presentation. During class, you were always laughing and making jokes. But during the mock interview and presentation, you were really serious! And a pity that I missed the early morning "sharing" sessions which you had with Cat and Junwen (the eavesdropper) hahaha.

Lixian: Hello Lixian! Since you were across the room, I didn't have the chance to interact with you much sadly. But I'm glad to have known you and all the best in your future studies!! You're the only year 2 amongst us oldies! Hahaha.

Perry: Hello Perry! I think what I remember most is us swimming away from sharks and the picture of you falling down the stairs hah! You're really amusing and your comments always crack me up! Thank you for the laughs which brightened up the mornings! :)

Weiee: Hi Weiee! At first I was a little apprehensive about working with you; I thought our personalities were too different and that we won't be able to click. Luckily I did not let this little thought get in the way of our communication. I found out that behind that quiet exterior, you have great ideas and thoughts which amaze me sometimes. I can truly say that it had been a pleasure working with you. :)

Xinying: Hey Xinying! It's a pity I didn't manage to know you more, would love to hear more about your Coasta Rica summer! :) But I'm glad to have known you; you're a very sweet girl. Hopefully I will get another chance to know you better!

Zhaochen: Hi Zhaochen! I wonder if you'll ever see this but if you do, thank you for being part of the journey!

Ms. Lim: Hi Ms Lim! I would like to thank you for everything! The comments, the feedbacks, the lessons, the activities... I'm really glad I did not turn away from this module because of the VERY heavy workload haha. Your enthusiasm has definitely made the class a lot more lively (especially because it is so early), and I hope that we have made your mornings as well in one way or another :)

  4. Haha weiee, I said "thought". Well, I was worried that you might think I'm too noisy or hyperactive or something. Butttt, luckily I don't allow my pre-formed judgements get in the way! So I threw them aside and here I am, communicating with ease with you! :D
